Yes, you need a written referral from your GP, Specialist, physio or other registered health care provider, requesting specialist pain physiotherapy assessment and treatment plan.
You will be contacted to arrange an appointment by David at Pains and Brains. He will send you a registration link online, and some symptoms questionnaires. You will be asked to complete these prior to your appointment.
At your appointment you will be fully assessed through an exploratory interview and discussion format, and some targeted physical tests. Then your condition will be diagnosed, or discussed further and explained to you. A full report is then written up and sent to your referring health care provider (GP/ specialist/ physio etc), and a copy is sent to ACC also. You will then begin rehab with your own physio under Dr Jacqui's guidance where possible.
Possibly yes, but only for 4 follow-ups on ACC. Ideally you would continue with your own physio under Dr Jacqui's guidance.
However, if your own physio is not equipped or is unable to provide you with the care you need, some rehabilitation can be provided by Dr Jacqui. We also have senior pain physiotherapist, Sarah Astwood, who can provide you with pain physiotherapy rehab, on a part-charge basis ($ similar to regular physiotherapists).
ACC will only allow 4 fully-funded rehab sessions after the initial assessment. We encourage you to continue with your own therapist where possible, under Dr Jacqui’s guidance.
There is no cost to the referred ACC-funded patient for up to 5 sessions (assessment and 4 follow-ups), because Dr Jacqui Clark is a specialist.
Telehealth (e.g. Zoom) is available to you instead of in-person
